DIY first aid kit: everything you need to create your own first aid kit

Having a first aid kit in your car, home or office will prepare you for any situation. Creating a DIY first aid kit is relatively simple and cost-effective. 

The first aid kit should include basic medical supplies such as antiseptics, bandages, sterile dressings, aspirin, antibiotic ointment packs, notepads, permanent markers, etc.; (please refer to the complete list below) and you or your family in an emergency Any specific medications that may be needed under the circumstances.  

Just like any medicine you store at home, always store the first aid kit out of the reach of children-this includes when you travel. You also need to check your kit regularly to ensure that the packaging is properly sealed, the expiration date has not expired, and any used items have been replaced. We recommend keeping your project list so that you can easily update it. 

If you plan to make a DIY first aid kit, you may need to customize it according to your needs.

Used for minor cuts and skin injuries. 

These can help control bleeding and protect wounds. 

Elastic bandages or crepe bandages are used to secure wound dressings and apply pressure and support. Although non-elastic bandages are suitable for slings, fixed splints and restricted movement.

You will need tape to help secure the dressing. 

Disposable gloves help prevent infection. 

The swab is used to clean your hands, patient wounds and surrounding skin. 

If necessary, cut the dressing and bandage to the appropriate size, or cut the clothing.

It is essential to remove shards, glass or any other type of debris. 

Physiological saline (sodium chloride (salt) and water) is used to clean wounds and can be used to remove dust, sand and even insects and other minor irritants from the eyes. 

If you do not have access to cool tap water, then burn relief creams or gels are the next best choice for minor burns. 

Treatment and prevention of infections from minor cuts, wounds, abrasions, insect bites and minor burns.

Given that we are in a global pandemic, masks are an indispensable new addition to your first aid kit. 

If the eye is injured, it is best to carry it with you.  

Warm blankets help resist the cold by absorbing body heat. 

Write down details of the injury or disease progression until appropriate medical care is available.
