For nearly 55 years, the Donut Bank has been the place to go when three-state residents need to repair donuts. Since opening its first branch on First Avenue on the north side of Evansville, the Kempf family bakery has expanded the popular bakery to nine branches in Evansville, Newburgh, Princeton, and their The Henderson branch recently opened in 2014. Soon, that branch won because the construction of the new location had already started, so it would not be considered the latest.

The Evansville 411 news on Facebook was the first to report that the Kempff family broke ground on a second location on the west side of Evansville. The new location will occupy the space previously occupied by Mobile 1 Lube Express (then called Grease Monkey) at 4800 West Lloyd Expressway between Subway and Culver's.

According to the building permit obtained by the Evansville 411 News, the new site will be less than 2,500 square feet and will open sometime in 2022, but no specific opening date has been announced.

The new bakery will be located about two miles west of St. Joe Avenue, near the intersection of Franklin Street. Although this seems close (because it is), when you consider the growth of the area over the years from a retail and residential perspective, it makes sense for Kempf's to add a location in the area.

Once the opening date is announced, we will definitely pass it on.
