Hi, what are you looking for?

The packaging industry is a growing field in much demand as it becomes easier and easier to ship items around the world.  Proper packaging is vital in this field to make sure that item reaches its destination in the same shape it was sent out in. Packaging engineers are always looking for the best ways to meet their packaging challenges, and one option is double-sided pressure sensitive adhesives.

Pressure sensitive tape also known as PSA, self-adhesive, self-stick adhesive. It is a major category of adhesive tapes and is a relatively thin flexible material with single or double sided coating. Single sided tapes are a pressure-sensitive tape consisting of a carrier with adhesive coated only on one side. Single sided tapes use a backing that may be variety materials that are flat, and web-based such as film, paper, foil, fabrics, or foam tape. Whereas, double sided tape – also known as double coated tape or double faced tape, is a pressure sensitive tape (PSA) consisting of film, foam, paper, cloth, or foil carrier, with an acrylic, rubber or silicone adhesive coated on both sides.

PSA tapes require pressure to adhere to a surface. These tapes can be formulated to form high strength bonds when used in medical equipment or to join different dressing and drape substrates together, or to provide gentle adhesion when used in a stick-to-skin application. PSA tapes can be acrylics, silicones, or styrene block co-polymers.

Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) tapes are used in many different applications and continue to grow as a solution to fastening and joining due to advances in adhesive technology, ease of use, and its low cost compared to traditional fastening systems.

Pressure sensitive tape is a fast and convenient means affixing in position, either permanently or temporarily. The various types of backing material such as plastic films, cloth fabrics, paper and others used to form such tapes. Pressure sensitive tapes are seeing increasing use throughout all industries, including transportation, construction, medical, appliance applications. It has advantages over traditional methods of mechanical and chemical bonding, cost-effective nature, durable, and easy to install are some of the factors helps to grow the market towards growth.

According to a recent study report published by the Market Research Future, The global market of Pressure sensitive tape is booming and expected to gain prominence over the forecast period. The market is forecasted to demonstrate a striking growth by 2028, surpassing its previous growth records in terms of value with a striking CAGR during the estimated period (2021 – 2028).

APAC is expected to dominate the global pressure sensitive tapes market with its fastest growing market worldwide. In recent years, the demand for pressure sensitive taps have been declined due to low production and decline in the construction activities. However in U.S. and Europe, the tap market is expected to grow due to the increase in demand for paints and coating which uses masking tapes. Although pressure sensitive taps are used in almost every region, Asia Pacific region is expected to dominate due to greater share from the manufacturing industry. The increase in demand of pressure sensitive taps for application such as food & beverage, construction, automotive, and others have also dominated the pressure sensitive taps industry in future.
