I nvestigators reportedly conducted a search of the home of a New York federal judge whose 49-year-old son is accused of covertly filming women partaking in sex acts at his home.

Three hard drives, 150 DVDs, and a black binder were confiscated in the raid on the home of U.S. District Judge Thomas McAvoy, underpinning the 29-count indictment against his son Daniel McAvoy, court documents revealed, per Gothamist.

"The defendant … intentionally used and installed, and permitted the utilization and installation of an imaging device to surreptitiously view, broadcast and record a person, known to the Grand Jury dressing and undressing and the sexual and other intimate parts of such person at a place and time when such person had a reasonable expectation of privacy," an indictment said.

The elder McAvoy is not accused of wrongdoing in the case. He was appointed to the court by President Ronald Reagan in 1986. The younger McAvoy was indicted by a grand jury on Sept. 7 for secretly filming sex acts without the consent of the women involved. Authorities executed searches at both Daniel McAvoy's and his parents' homes, per court documents.

Daniel McAvoy had pleaded not guilty and has been released under supervision. His lawyers rejected a plea offer in which he would be slapped with up to three years in prison and be mandated to register as a sex offender, the New York Post reported. He faces up to four years behind bars.

Prosecutors at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office have been spearheading the investigation into the younger McAvoy. They also collected six different cameras and multiple memory devices from his apartment.

Four women were recorded in different instances between March 2017 and October 2021, Gothamist reported. He has been directed to stay away from at least two of those people and turn over all of any firearms he might possess.

Daniel McAvoy is slated for a Dec. 1 court appearance.

His father, 84, served on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and oversaw a number of high-profile cases throughout his tenure, including a 1997 civil case with boxer Mike Tyson, who had been sued for firing his trainer. The elder McAvoy sided with Tyson and tossed out the case.
